Firstly, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and wish you all the best for 2016!
From January, I am delighted to welcome back Mrs Wills in Class 5 from maternity leave and welcome Mrs Fildes in Class 8. Mrs Fildes joins us from Browney Primary Academy, in Durham. In terms of leadership, I will be remaining at New Silksworth Infants until at least the end of the school year and if required with work beyond this to ensure a smooth transition. I am delighted to be supported by an Interim Deputy Head teacher Mrs Hayward, who is assisting in a leadership capacity until the end of the Summer Term.
Nursery home visits and settling-in days have taken place this week and Nursery will be fully open again from Monday 11th.
The Daycare setting has been extended in size following the Christmas period, in line with an expected rise in the number of families requiring childcare. If anyone wants to find out more about childcare options in Kiddywinx, please give us a call or drop in.
The school’s focus this term will be to continue making changes in line with the findings from the original Ofsted report and the following inspection visits, including behaviour for learning, increasing the level of challenge in the class room and continue to improve and stabilise leadership in the school. Attendance will continue to be a large focus for the school.
I am keen to meet parents to discuss the progress and direction of the school and I will be holding a Parent Forum on Friday 22nd January at 9am in the School Hall. In the meantime, please get in touch should you have any concerns.
Mrs Sarah Nordstrom
