"I have lived in silksworth all my life and attended both Silksworth Infants and Juniors. I am married with 2 boys who both attend silksworth infants and nursery. I have worked in children's social services for 12 years and education nursery for the last 8 years. I have a vast knowledge within all year settings and know a lot about the education system. I am very passionate about my job and now being on the board of governors I now feel I can use my knowledge to help the school move forward. As a parent and knowing other parents within the community I feel I would be able to pass information to and from meetings and reassure parents that changes going on in the school will be listened too and there views will be taken on board. I hope I will make a big change to the school as our children deserve the best education possible."

I trained as a teacher and spent all my teaching life in Sunderland schools, the last twenty years in an Infant School. "I live in Silksworth with my two children, both of which attend New Silksworth Infant School. I take an active role in School life having attended the School myself. I like to help organise outside of School activities and events, and have also been on school trips assisting Reception and Year 2 classes. "During my careers I have worked as a Civil Servant in Newcastle and in 13 years at a hostel for homeless men in Chester le Street. Following this I moved to Norcare providing support, advice and accommodation for offenders leaving prison. During my time there I started as Project Worker before becoming Project Leader working closely with police; probation service; social services, housing associations and councils. Later in my career I had a spell as a Classroom Assistant in New Silksworth Junior School where I worked 1-1 with child with behavioural issues, following this I then took up the position as Caretaker in the school for a number of years.
I am currently a Minister at the local Independent Methodist Church and part of the leadership team there. I feel that I bring experience, leadership, empathy and understanding to the governing body at New Silksworth Infant School."
