Welcome to what is going to be a fabulous year at New Silksworth Infant school. I am currently substantive Head teacher of a primary school in Sunderland; I have been appointed as Interim Head teacher of New Silksworth Infants from the start of term.
As you are aware we were placed in the OFSTED category of special measures following an inspection during February 2015 which found the school to be inadequate in all areas.
Our school has undergone a transformation since this time with new staff, new leaders and new expectations for learning across the school. Parent, pupil and staff feedback has been overwhelmingly supportive of the school since the inspection report was published and warmly welcomes the changes leadership has made to make our school a better place. Our school is already unrecognisable from the report and continues to get better every day.
All end of year assessments were externally validated this year, and I am proud to say that the results are good (to read more click here). There have been so many changes over the summer; I aim to invite you in to school in the coming weeks to discuss openly where we are in terms of monitoring visits by HMI. There is still a significant amount of work to be carried out in order for all concerns relating to the original Inspection to be eradicated. I will continue to work with the staff, families and Governors in order to ensure that our children are given the best education we can possibly achieve.
