Class 6

We are having lots of fun this term with our topic Sensational Safari. The children have written reports with lots of information about different animals. They have also studied a variety of different habits and not forgetting our fantastic trip to South Lakes Safari Park. I could really feel a strong buzz around the classroom on Thursday when they returned as they all excitedly told me about the different animals they saw. Especially the giraffe at lunch time that couldn’t get his tongue back inside of his mouth!

They have written the most beautiful Giraffe’s can’t dance stories this week using lots of description, different types of sentences and even some speech. It has been a pleasure to read them! I can’t wait to see their finished edited versions on display.

Class 6 have been working hard this term in preparation for their SATs. As you know we will be taking our SATs the week beginning the 16th May. For our homework, leading up to this, we will be sending home practise questions for the children to complete. Please encourage them to draw out their calculations if they are finding them difficult to solve.

Finally congratulations to our fantastic footballers who won first and second place at the football tournament this term!

"Class 6 loved making dens and being creative in the sunshine on Wednesday! Thanks to all of the adults that came along and supported us. Your dens were fantastic."

Happy New Year Everybody! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed the festive period. I’m so happy to be back to school and getting into our new topic- Let’s Go! We have already wrote our own transport poems, learnt to draw pictograms and began our science topic- materials! Here are some pictures of us investigating what materials were used to build Miss Blake’s car and why they were used.

In the upcoming week we are looking forward to writing stories, using our pictograms to give us more information and investigating which materials are waterproof!

It’s going to be a busy but exciting half term!

P.S. Our class target is to improve our handwriting! Please ensure that our letters are the correct size when we are writing at home (remember- ascenders are tall and descenders go underneath the line!)
