I want to say a huge well done to Class 7 for coming back to school and quickly settling in after their long summer break. You are all super stars!
This half term our topic is 'happily ever after' and all of our work will be linked to traditional tales. Here are some of the things we have already done in class and few things that you can look forward to doing over the next few weeks.
We had a vote to find out what our favourite traditional tale is. Hansel and Gretel was the winner so we transformed our reading area into the witches gingerbread house! It looks amazing (and tasty)!
In English we wrote our own versions of Hansel and Gretel, which were fabulous. In maths we have been learning about place value and solving number problems. We have also started a DT project where we are designing and making a puppet, to look like a character from a traditional tale. (I told you we have been busy!)
Class 7 have already discussed what they want to learn next! We have decided to read Mr Wolf's Pancakes, learn how to make pancakes and write the recipe to take home so we can make pancakes with our friends and family. We will visit a local shop to buy the ingredients we need, where we will work out the cost and pay the cashier. Finally we will draw maps to show how we got to the shops and the journeys that characters make in traditional tales.
I hope you have enjoyed your first few weeks in Year 2 and are looking forward to what we have in store for the next few weeks,
Mrs Seaman.
