On Wednesday 20th April classes 6, 7 and 8 visited South Lakes Safari zoo in Cumbria. This took place as part of our class topic – Sensational Safari! We had a fantastic day which began with a long three hour coach journey to the zoo. When we arrived we were happy to see that the sky was blue and the sun was shining. After having a safety talk from one of the zookeepers, we headed into the park to see the animals. We saw, camels, zebras, lemurs, bears, giraffes and many more. We were lucky enough to watch the tigers being fed their food for the day. They were super fast! We also took part in a workshop all about different habitats. We learned about the rainforest and the savannah. After a great day, we climbed onto the bus for the long journey home. We had fantastic time at the zoo and now we are excited to do a lot more work about the animals!
Hi everyone! My name is Mrs Fildes and I am the teacher lucky enough to have taken over in class eight. I am so excited to be working in the school that I went to when I was a little girl.
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and I am excited about the lovely activities that we have planned for this half term.
Our topic this half term is ‘Let’s Go’. The children will be learning about different methods of transport from the past and the present. We have an exciting visit to Beamish planned where we will see transport from the past in action!
This half term our topic is ‘Lumiere’ and all of our work is linked to that topic.
We have learned all about Fire Safety. We have even written our very own leaflets, which we linked to Bonfire Night and looked at different websites to find out how to stay safe.
In History, we are learning all about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot. Things were very different back then!
We were lucky enough to be visited by a World War Two veteran who came into school to talk to us about his experiences and to show us his medals from the war and.
Class 8 also visited the cenotaph to pay their respect. The children lay poppies and remembered those who have fought to keep us safe in a one minute silence.
This term the children are taking part in the Walkwise program. They have learned all about Road Safety with Mrs Ward. They have also been on several walks to put what they have learned to the test!
